About Career and Professional Development
Career and Professional Development (CPD) is a part of the Global Networks team within DU's Advancement office. CPD is one of five offices on campus providing career development services to a diverse community of DU students and alumni. CPD serves all the undergraduate programs, University College, multiple graduate programs, and alumni not served by the other career services offices on campus. We provide a full range of services including one-on-one career advising, class presentations and course integration, programming/events, career fairs, on-campus recruiting, access to thousands of jobs, internships and alumni and employer connections. Career & Professional Development is a very fast-paced, busy office that connects with students, faculty, staff, a wide variety of departments and divisions across campus, employers, families, and the community. CPD is implementing a strategic plan for advancing inclusion that includes six bold goals to achieve by 2025 based on feedback from stakeholders including students, alumni, and employers.
Position Summary
The Marketing and Events Coordinator supports the marketing and communications strategy for CPD utilizing a variety of social, digital, and traditional communications channels including the CPD website. This will include but is not limited to collaborating across CPD teams to coordinate communication with students, alumni, and campus partners, maintaining social media to support the overall communications strategy; and helping to curate content that may be helpful to students and alumni in their job and internship searches. Additionally, the Coordinator will lead and coordinate a variety of campus-wide events
Essential Functions
- The Marketing and Events Coordinator will develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communication strategy to increase awareness of CPD and engagement with career development activities among students, alumni, and other constituents in support of the University's bold goal of improving student outcomes. Additionally, the coordinator will lead and coordinate several campus-wide events and programs. The coordinator will create promotional and marketing collateral including social media content, digital displays, website and online content management, email templates, newsletters and outreach. The coordinator will liaise with program managers and student employees in CPD to develop and maintain a communications and marketing schedule and workflow that is effective in reaching student and alumni audiences and that leverages the contributions of multiple staff teams.
Marketing & Communications
- Act as a central point of contact and liaison with CPD staff and student employees to establish and maintain a coordinated schedule and workflow for all CPD communications, including reminding contributors of timelines, and gathering and reviewing content.
- Develop a timeline and strategy for promoting and marketing CPD programs and events, including channels to be used for each program (social media, digital screens, newsletters, blog, etc.)
- Plan, develop, update, and maintain website content, including text, images, and multimedia, to support departmental goals, initiatives, and communications priorities using the uConnect web platform.
- Draft/execute/send bi-weekly and monthly newsletters for internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop templates for flyers, digital screens, email newsletters and announcements.
- Review content for consistency with DU branding guidelines.
- Contribute to updating digital screens in common areas.
- Coordinate with all CPD teams to collect content for ongoing projects, and to promote and support CPD events and programs.
- Maintain social media in support of communications priorities.
Event Planning and Coordination
- Lead/co-lead campus-wide programmatic strategy and delivery in alignment with the CPD Strategic Plan, institutional priorities and the 4D Experience. Programs will engage students in developing career competencies, expanding their DU network and encouraging experiential learning participation. [MH1.1][FB1.2]
- Serve as the primary point of contact for event logistics, including space reservations, audiovisual needs, catering, accessibility accommodations, and vendor coordination.
- Develop and maintain detailed event timelines, documentation of best practices, and post event follow up processes and evaluation.
- Coordinate speakers, partners, and facilitators by managing invitations, confirmations, event materials, and on site needs.
- Support CPD staff and student employees involved in events by assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring clear communication and accountability.
- Participate in various tabling events around campus to promote CPD to students.

- Digital Engagement and Content Development Knowledge of digital engagement strategies, including email marketing, social media, and content development, with the ability to use analytics and data-informed insights for continuous improvement.
- Event Planning: Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and execute events, managing logistics, stakeholder relationships, and promotion to support student engagement and student outcomes.
- Communication and Relationship Building Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively, build positive relationships, and communicate clearly with a wide range of campus partners and stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and Commitment to Quality: Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize competing demands, and maintain organization while meeting deadlines.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- 2 years of marketing and/or communications experience, including experience communicating with young adult audiences.
- Experience in digital marketing.
- Experience coordinating and executing events
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with marketing, communication, and events in higher education or a similarly complex environment with multiple audiences.
- Experience with web content management platforms and Adobe Create Suite or similar design and editing tools.
Working Environment
- Standard office environment.
- Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
- Noise level is quiet to moderate.
Physical Activities
- Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. In accordance with the University's flexible work policy, this position is eligible to be considered for partial remote work. Further details regarding this plan will be determined with the hiring manager and are dependent on the division and team specific needs.

The salary grade for the position is 8.
Salary Rate:
The salary rate for this position is $57,784.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
