Job Description
The Office of Communications and Marketing at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, seeks applications and nominations for the position of project manager on the marketing team. This role is critical for the team's success, collaborating across our office and the campus to ensure work stays on track and milestones are met in campaigns, programs, and projects that support the mission of the university.

The Office of Communications and Marketing is dedicated to advancing the university's reputation. We craft audience-focused communications based on data, best-practices, and emerging trends.

The division comprises several cross-functional teams, employing more than 50 full-time professionals with expertise in design, development, video production, content strategy, feature writing, editing, marketing, media relations, internal communication, and special events.


Responsibilities
The marketing team project manager is responsible for:
  • Drafting campaign and project briefs with strategic input from directors and assistant directors
  • Scheduling and facilitating meetings to plan and execute work
  • Evaluating resources and recommending adjustments as necessary to prioritize projects and keep projects moving forward
  • Assisting in developing and managing estimates and budgets for projects
  • Managing the milestones of multiple, simultaneous projects and providing status updates to ensure work stays on track and aligned with strategy, as outlined in the project brief
  • Coordinating with other project managers and campus partners involved with any projects or campaigns
  • Gathering results of work and facilitating discussions on outcomes to shape future efforts
  • Supporting program initiatives managed by the marketing team, including the social media program, digital marketing program, and analytics program
  • Serving as the project manager for the office's work to support our campus communicators network, coordinating with office leadership to ensure campus partners have the tools and resources they need to represent UT's brand

  • Advanced knowledge of marketing and communications strategies
  • Solid understanding of industry standard approaches to brand social media, digital marketing, and analytics, or demonstrated ability to learn them quickly
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to lead individuals who are not direct reports

  • Demonstrated skill and strong judgment in managing the university's reputation

Qualifications
Required: Associate's degree and at least 4 years professional experience related to duties and responsibilities, or Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of professional experience related to duties and responsibilities

Salary

The hiring range for this position is MR10. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.
