This role supports the execution of integrated marketing and communications efforts for the Advancement Marketing & Communications teams. This position joins a team that is tasked with stewarding donors, engaging alumni and other constituents, promoting the reputation of CU Boulder amongst alumni, donors, and friends to increase overall philanthropic support for CU Boulder. This position formally reports to the Director, Marketing, Communications and Client Services. CU Boulder Advancement Marketing and Communications engages a wide variety of donors, alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, ambassadors, and community members through a multi-channel approach that elevates reputation, drives connection and inspires participation. We create and amplify donor-, alumni-, and community-centric relevant content with the CU Boulder voice, tone and brand.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Project Management
  • Guide projects from inception to final delivery, including project intake and kickoff, periodic check-ins with contributors and campus partners, and project debrief and closeout.
  • Coordinate and maintain project scopes, budgets, deliverables, to meet objectives.
  • In coordination with the Director, Marketing, Communications and Client Services, develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
  • Work on the creation of marketing plans and assist with other marketing projects on an as needed basis.
  • Manage relationships with school, college and unit partners to achieve project goals.
  • Supervise project tracking in team project management tool.
  • Proactively guide project lifecycle and project team workflow.
  • Inspire positive outcomes by understanding and advocating for team goals, measurement, continuous optimization strategies and identifying unique opportunities that algin with advancement division.
  • Balance the expectations of clients, marketing and communications initiatives and broader divisional goals.
Social Media Contribution
  • Assist in the creation and scheduling of social media posts for Alumni Association social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and LinkedIn.
  • Provide idea to the design, copywriting, recording and editing of social media content.
  • In coordination with the Senior Program Manager, Social Media Manager, assist in managing social media communities - monitoring, listening, recording and responding appropriately.
  • Help track engagement metrics and assist in preparing performance reports.
  • Give ideas for social media campaigns to engage alumni and the university community.
  • Collaborate with team members to support social media strategies for upcoming events and initiatives.
  • Ensure all posts are aligned with CU Boulder's brand and voice.
  • Attend relevant events, post live coverage and facilitate takeovers, as needed.
  • Analyze and report paid and organic social media analytics to make data-driven decisions and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Supervise social media trends, learn about tools and adapt quickly to stay relevant.
Other Marketing and Communications Assistance
  • Work on the planning, execution and analysis of effective digital communications across all channels (including email, website and social media).
  • Share the university's stories using various integrated marketing channels to help develop connectivity with our constituents.
  • Stay current with digital marketing suite of tools used by CU Boulder and cross-train in web (Drupal), email (Litmus, Marketing Cloud and Salesforce) and registration (Cvent) tools.
  • Take part in planning meetings to understand and contribute to messaging, targeted audience strategy and develop integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Create content for integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Provide support in execution of web updates and email efforts.
  • Collaborate with graphic designers and copywriters on website updates.
  • Pull marketing data, understand its relevance and collaborate with the team to effectively communicate findings/highlights.
  • Assist in building web pages during busy times, such as publishing the digital edition of the Coloradan magazine.
Other Administrative Support
  • Cross-train as the team's Scrum Master in the Agile project management framework.
  • Offer continued administrative support to the team in tracking projects in our project management tool according to set timelines and other parameters, ensuring standard processes are followed.
  • Assist with team project management framework (Agile), through administrative tasks like building new sprints and adjusting dashboards.
  • Coordinate and provide support for team meetings by facilitating physical and technical needs; take notes and coordinate follow-up as needed.
  • Identify problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Support team administrative operations and communications, as needed, including Teams channel updates, IT support, etc.
  • Contribute to the organization of processes and team workflows.
  • Additional administrative support as assigned.


What You Should Know

  • This role is in a hybrid work situation, working a mix of days on campus (Tuesday and Wednesday) and remotely each week.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends may be required based on business needs.


What We Can Offer

The salary range is $60,000 - $70,000 annually. Relocation assistance may be available within Advancement guidelines.
